Alphagan 2% (Generic)
Alphagan 2% (generic) ophthalmic solution comes in the form of eye drops in a plastic 5/10/15 ml bottle with a controlled drop tip. It contains brimonidine tartrate as an active ingredient and auxiliary components. Alphagan 2% is approved by the FDA and is used to lower intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.
The dosage has to be determined by the doctor, but it usually is one drop in the affected eye(-s) three times a day, with an 8-hour interval. A peak ocular hypotensive effect occurs at 2 hours post-dosing. In some patients the medicine’s efficacy diminishes over time.
Generic Alphagan 0,2% is also available in the market as Brimonidine 0,2%.
