Femara (Generic)

Generic Femara (letrozole) is an antitumor drug that decreases the level of aromatase, which is involved in estrogen synthesis. By inhibiting estrogen, Femara helps to slow the growth of cancer cells that rely on the hormone. Femara is used in early stages of breast cancer in postmenopausal women (in postmenopausal period, aromatase enzyme is mainly involved in estrogen synthesis). Prolonged adjunctive therapy with Femara reduces the risk of tumor progression by 42%.
