Lopid (Generic)

Lopid is also called Gemfibrozil. It belongs to the class of lipid-regulating fibrates. It reduces the production level of triglycerides in the liver; it also helps to lower cholesterol. It should be used along the special diet for people who have high levels of serum triglycerides and at a higher risk to develop pancreatitis, as they do not respond well to a strict diet. Another use is reducing the risk of heart disease in patients who did not respond to any cholesterol-lowering drugs.

At the market, Generic Lopid is also sold as Gemlipid, Jezil.
