Ampicillin
Ampicillin is a penicillin antibiotic used for treating different infections of bacterial origin, such as pneumonia, meningitis, gonorrhea, bladder infections, infections of the intestines and stomach. Sometimes, the antibiotic is used before surgery to prevent complications and infections. Ampicillin may come in the form of capsules, tabs or powder for oral suspension.
The dosage and duration of therapy depend on the type of infection and severity of the patient’s condition. It is inadmissible to miss the doses and stop the treatment until it is completed, because bacteria may develope resistance to the medicine.
Ampicillin is also available in the market as Principen, Omnipen-N, Totacillin, Polycillin. Many companies manufacture Ampicillin.
