Antabuse (Generic)

Antabuse (Generic) is also often marketed as Disulfiram by the name of an active ingredient of the medication. The drug is usually used for treating alcoholism. It blocks the metabolizing of alcohol or, more exactly, it blocks an enzyme involved in this process. This may cause unpleasant adverse effects during alcohol consumption, such as upset stomach, vomiting, and others. The person feels sick when drinking and starts associating alcohol with illness. The medication is not a cure, so the treatment should also include psychotherapy and behavior modification.

The drug comes in the form of tabs for oral administration.

Generic Antabuse is also available in the market as Disulfiram and Antabus.
