Lamivudine

Lamivudine is an effective antiretroviral treatment for HIV syptoms. It is also an active agent of a well-known anti-viral medicine Epivir produced by Apotex Inc. This medical product is one of the most prescribed for for HIV-1 and HIV-2 therapy. It may be a part of a post-exposure HIV prevention and be combined with other antiretrovirals. Lamivudine is also called 3TC and belongs to the drug class NRTIs. Its effect decreases the amount of HIV in the blood.

At the market, Lamivudine is also sold as Zeffix, Epivir, Heptovir, Epivir-HBV.
